"ON THE ROAD" in Cannes Competition.

I look forward to the 23 May Palais screening of ON THE ROAD, based on the novel by Beat author Jack Kerouac, and directed by Walter Salles.

My review of the film will be published on this blog and in Norwegian media.

There is a reason for my special interest in this film

In 1993, I interviewed Jack Kerouac´s close friend; beat poet Allen Ginsburg for the Norwegian alternative / underground  mazazine  Gateavisa.

During in the interview. Allen Ginsberg several times  mentioned  Kerouac and the significance of On The Road as an inspiration for millions of people worldwide since its publication.

The interview was also shot on video, but the 90 minutes of´high quality footage was never used. I am now working  on a documentary based on the interview,  with additional new footage to be shot in San Francisco in fall 2012.

You can see the trailer for the Ginsberg documentary here. On The Road is mentioned several times.
