SCREENINGS

31 October, 22:00 - Sinopoli
1 November, 12:00 - Sinopoli
1 November, 22:30 - Embassy

Anna (new diva of Scandinavian cinema Noomi Rapace, who played hacker Lisbeth Salander in the film
versions of Swedish writer Stieg Larsson’s Millennium trilogy) and her eight-year-old son Anders (Vetle
Qvenild Werring) flee Anders’ violent father to a secret location in an enormous apartment complex.
Fearing her ex-husband will find them, Anna buys a babycall to ensure Anders’ safety and listen for any
strange sounds emanating from his room. But troubling noises start coming through the monitor from
other parts of the building, and Anna overhears what might be the murder of a child. Meanwhile, Anders
meets a strange child that appears and disappears. Does he know anything about the sounds coming
through the babycall? Why is there blood in one of Anders’ drawings? Are mother and son still in danger?
This effective and disturbing horror film is set in a deceptively peaceful Oslo, where monsters exist
perhaps only in nightmares. Or perhaps not.

ROME FILM FESTIVAL

The sixth edition of the International Rome Film Festival will be held from October 27 to November 4, 2011, at Rome’s Auditorium Parco della Musica, the spectacular arts complex designed by world-famous architect Renzo Piano.

The festival will be occupying every free inch of this prestigious venue: the five theatres – Santa Cecilia, Sinopoli, Petrassi, Teatro Studio, and Studio 3 – will be reserved for screenings and encounters, while the Foyer, Auditorium Arte, Spazio Risonanze and the Museo Archeologico will host an array of other events.

During the Festival, the 1,300-sqm walkway that leads to the striking Cavea outside the Auditorium will be transformed into one of the biggest red carpets in the world, a unique walkway not only for international celebrities but also for festivalgoers, the true protagonists of the event. Facing the Auditorium, the Cinema Village is a 6,000-sqm complex purpose-built for the occasion, with temporary screening facilities and steel-and glass pavilions and stands that welcome festivalgoers.

The Village offers info points, ticket offices and a large food area – featuring a cafeteria, refreshment areas, pizzerias, and restaurants – as well as shops and themed areas dedicated to the Festival’s sponsors.

And, as happens every year, the International Rome Film Festival’s unique atmosphere will be contagious. The entire Eternal City will get in the act with a series of exciting film-related events that will be held in some of Rome’s most iconic locations, hosted by its cultural institutions and various associations connected with the film industry.

The International Rome Film Festival is produced by the Fondazione Cinema per Roma: founding members are the City of Rome, Lazio Region, Province of Rome, Rome Chamber of Commerce and Fondazione Musica per Roma.

REPORT FROM THE 2011 CANNES FILM FESTIVAL

My report from the 2011 Cannes Film Festival, printed in the Norwegian weekly magazine Ny Tid, 27 May 2011. Click on page for larger format.

4 min. trailer : The Allen Ginsberg Interview - Oslo 1993. 50 minute documentary in production 2011.

Link to video on my Naighbourhood blog:

http://naboskap.blogspot.com/2011/04/4-min-trailer-allen-ginsberg-interview.html

We shot a 90 minute interview with the poet Allen Ginsberg at the Continental hotel in Oslo, 24 October 1993. The interview was transcribed and translated to Norwegian for publication in our underground paper Gateavisa - The Street Paper - but the video has never been screened.

We have now decided to turn it into a 50 minute documentary, with additional new footage to be shot at the City Lights bookshop and other locations in San Francisco.

Allen Ginsberg was born June 3, 1926 and died April 5, 1997. The 2010 film Howl directed by Rob Epstein Howl explores the life and works of Ginsberg. The film stars James Franco as Ginsberg.
